# ToothPal

> ToothPal is a consumer wellness app for the smile. Its promise is three verbs: **score it, track it,
> improve it**. A guided phone photo is scored across five visible-appearance dimensions, those scores are
> tracked week over week, and a weekly focus targets whichever one is lowest — so a person can see whether
> their oral-care routine is changing anything. The three readings people come for are breath **freshness**,
> **Smile Age** and a **brighter smile**. ToothPal is not a medical device and does not diagnose.

## What the app does

ToothPal has three acts — See, Understand, Improve.

1. **See.** A free AI *Smile Makeover* takes three photos and renders a visualization of the user's
   smile a shade brighter and a little straighter, with a natural-to-bright shade slider. It is
   explicitly an inspiration render, not a treatment prediction and not a plan.
2. **Understand.** A guided *Check-in* takes five framed photos (anterior bite, right buccal, left
   buccal, upper arch, lower arch) in about 30 seconds and scores five dimensions out of 100.
3. **Improve.** A morning/night ritual log, a single weekly focus tied to the user's weakest
   dimension, and a timeline where every scan becomes a point on a trend line.

## The five dimensions

- **Smile Brightness** — tooth shade read against a reference scale. Moves over weeks to months.
- **Gum Appearance** — visible redness or swelling-like patterns along the gum margin. Moves in about two weeks.
- **Oral Cleanliness** — surface buildup or staining patterns. Moves in days.
- **Tongue Cleanliness** — film colour on the tongue surface, graded against a fixed reference scale
  (uncoated above 85, whitish film 85, reddish 75, yellowish 65, heavily coated below 65). Moves in hours.
- **Oral Freshness** — a composite that averages per-region oral cleanliness with the tongue reading.

Advanced Check-in grades gum appearance and cleanliness **per mouth region** (anterior, upper arch,
lower arch, right buccal, left buccal) rather than as a single average.

## Smile Age

Smile Age is a **visual, appearance-based index**, not a biological or medical age. It combines a
five-question questionnaire (missing teeth and whether replaced, smoking/vaping, history of deep
cleaning, gum bleeding when flossing) worth up to 50 points with a weighted blend of the five scan
dimensions worth up to a further 50, producing a combined score out of 100. That score maps to an
age offset which is added to the user's real age. It is presented with its full breakdown visible
and is explicitly not a health measurement, not a longevity estimate, and not a diagnosis.

## Pricing

**There is no free tier.** One scan a month cannot produce a trend, which is the only thing the app is
for, so ToothPal gives the whole product away for three days instead of a permanently limited version.

- **Companion** — $7.49/month billed yearly ($89.90/year), or $9.99 month to month. Weekly Check-in,
  Advanced Check-in, Breath Hygiene, unlimited Smile Makeover, Smile Age, holistic protocol.
- **Family** — $16.66/month billed yearly ($199.90/year), or $24.99 month to month. Everything in
  Companion for up to five members, each with a separate private timeline.
- Both plans start with a **3-day free trial**. Cancel in Settings. No ads. No data sale.
- **Gift** — a full year of either plan can be bought as a gift at https://toothpal.ai/gift

## What ToothPal deliberately does not do

- It does not diagnose, name conditions, or score risk. It describes visible appearance only.
- It cannot see below the gum line, inside a tooth, bone level, or anything an X-ray exists to show.
- It does not compare users to each other. There are no leaderboards, percentiles or population benchmarks.
- It does not require hardware. No brush to pair, nothing to buy.
- It shows no advertising and does not sell user data.
- It is not a substitute for a dental examination. The app points users to a licensed dental
  professional when something appears worth an opinion, and keeps the standard safety line on every
  results screen: *"This analysis is based on visual information from your images and is not a
  diagnosis. A licensed dental professional can provide a full evaluation."*
